Aleix Ingles Elias Industrial Designer born in Barcelona (1981). He has worked helping a variety of industries create innovative products and services such as: sport items, furniture, transportation, consumer electronics and high-tech medical equipment.
His experience includes projects for: Philips, Technogym, Acamp, Nikon, Decathlon, Samsung, Viadynamics, AZ-Interactive, Coway, Merrel, Vilagrasa, Temoinsa, Alessi, Thyssen Group, CRS technologies, Biddle, Pares Architects, LG, Government of Rotterdam, Sergem, General Motors, and SONY.
He has also participated in collective exhibitions in Holland, Austria and Spain. He has been invited lecturer in Elisava school of Design for user centric design methodologies and he participated in several international design competitions.
He holds several patents and received CIRIT, DPPI, IF, and other awards.
Up to date, his personal goal as a designer is:
“Understanding industrial design as a tool to provide solutions in order to improve life in our society. Good design, driven by innovation is my passion”
He obtained a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design from ELISAVA (Barcelona, 2002) and a Masters Degree in Integrated Design from TUDelft (Holland, 2006) were he obtained major experience dealing with a holistic approach to industrial design mainly focused on user centric design and sustainability.
He is fluent in Catalan, Spanish, English, conversation in French and understanding of Italian. In 1999 he received the CIRIT award given to few of the best student projects in the country (Spain).
Aleix started his career as engineering-design offices consultant and modeling engineer working for automotive, rail, and airplane industries (Spain). Later on and following his studies in Holland he specialized n innovation and design. In 2005 he moved to Vienna (Austria) to work for GPDesignPartners and later on in 2006 he was offered a position at Decathlon (France). In 2008 he moved to London where he worked for Tangerine and one year later he started working at the SONY Design Centre Europe.
Through his experience in Europe, Aleix has learned different methodologies that now help him tackle projects that vary in scale and scope, from services to precise medical tools to sport equipment to consumer electronics.
He had the unique opportunity to collaborate with professionals from all over the world with various specialties such as designers, ethnographers, marketing and sales managers, production engineers, ecodesign experts, and government institutions.
Although Aleix’s work reflects a high charge of technology, he believes the cultural aspects and ease of use are key in the design process and consequently in the success of a product or service.
Aleix is an avid sportsman and he really enjoys playing football and riding bike. He also volunteered in work camps around the world and also at the Exploratorium Science Museum (San Francisco) as explainer for exhibitions. He is been active in sustainable seminars and also assisted the “solar car” team from TUDelft to win the world cup challenge in Australia (2004).
